National Society Elementary School Poster Contest for 4th and 5th Graders

 

The Tampa Chapter is pleased to announce its participation in the National Society Elementary School Poster Contest. We hope the contest will stimulate interest in American History in support of the fourth and fifth grade curriculum.  

 

The topic for 2008 - 2009 year’s contest is: “Paul Revere”

We’re pleased to announce this year’s chapter winners:

            1st Place:        Ty Woods, 4th grade

                        Receives a trophy, certificate and $50

            2nd Place:       Samantha Talley, 5th grade

                        Receives a trophy, certificate and $35

            3rd Place:        Aisling Moss, 4th grade

                        Receives a trophy, certificate and $25

 

And, Ty Woods also won the Florida State Society contest! He will receive an additional cash award and his poster, pictured at the left, will be entered in the National Society contest.

 

Our thanks go out to the Ruskin Christian School for their participation. We received more than 20 entries from the school and the judges were impressed with both the quantity and quality of all the entries.

 

Posters were judged by the following criteria:

-        Does the poster express the annual theme?

-        Does the poster show originality by the student?

-        Does the poster show evidence of research?

-        Does the poster show artistic merit and creativity?

-        Is the poster neat?
